Belfast, Northern Ireland's TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB's debut album Tourist History fizzes with invention and sparkling tunes. Their tastes for lean, rhythmic, and melodic aIUindie-rock, such as Bloc Party, Death Cab For Cutie and Modest Mouse spill over into their own music. Gigs were quickly secured on the back of two songs posted to MySpace and the band inked a deal with independent Glassnote Records.
Prior to recording their album, the young trio was faced with choosing between the security of univer- sity and a potential career, and the uncertainty and thrill of the band. Debut single "I Can Talk" address- es that issue and the theme of arguments and justi- fying what you believe in. Recorded in London at Eastcote Studios and produced by Elliott James (Bloc Party, Noah And The Whale) with a number of tracks mixed by Phillipe Zdar (Phoenix, Justice, Cas- sius), the album simply multiplies the single's surfeit of ideas and sounds.
