Recorded in 1954-55 for the Tico label (a division of Roulette Records), "Dance the Cha Cha Cha" demonstrates why Tito Puente was known as King of the Timbales. He eventually settled on a fusion of Afro-Cuban and Latin jazz genres that became known as “salsa” (a term that he disliked).
