'Parle Grand Canard' is undoubtedly the record that speaks the most of its author. The art of detouring, of the in-between, of the play of forms and counter forms, gives this work all its charm and vitality.
Four years after 'St-Homard' (Objet Disque, 2016), which received unanimous critical acclaim in France, Mocke (aka Dominique Depret and a member of French bands Arlt & Holden) is back with his 3rd album and he seems more inspired than ever. His previous two LPs had shown us his wonderful guitar playing and his almost science like approach to instrumental collage.
'Parle Grand Canard' reveals the different side of Mocke's discography. A gauze like elongation of instrumental passages opening up inner landscapes. The album made in collaboration with French composer Nicolas Worms (Opéra National de Paris). Is for fans of Pierre Schaeffer, Ennio Morricone, LaBradford, lovers of the Constellation label amongst others, it is even possible to detect Janáek and Shostakovitch if they played with a guitar!
Lastly, the fantastic artwork is created by the label owner Remy who doubles as a graphic designer known as Brest Brest Brest.
