'Hostile Ambient Takeover' is a flourishing blast of modern day Melvins. It is about as accessible as the band can get, boasting few moments of their trademark experimentation (which often boils down to abrasive noise) and no thick walls of guitar drone. The group's 14th studio album maybe doesn't quite live up to previous work but may well bring new fans into the fold.
