Go Aheads new double header is a storming combination of 1968 recordings from the legendary Donny Hathaway. Recorded for Atco, but remaining unreleased until very recently when they appeared on a CD compilation, these tracks really are state of the art Northern Soul. Also both of these songs were on an American acetate 45 by a group calling themselves The Mayfield Singers. That group included Donny in their line up along with Leroy Hutson, Guy Draper and Al Johnson. Donny clearly rated the songs, and having knowledge that they remained unissued, he went back and recorded them with a fuller production two years later...only for Atco to also decide to shelve them! So it''s with great pleasure and pride that we now can finally present you with a magnificent 45 that eventually has been given an official release on Go Ahead.
