In honour of the 20th Anniversary of God of War, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Santa Monica Studio and Laced Records have united to bring the mighty Greek saga soundtracks to vinyl.

God of War III was a critical hit, building on everything that had come before, and concluding with searingly violent deicide. The literally titanic ending chapter of the Greek saga timeline sees Kratos fall from Mount Olympus down to the River Styx and climb back up again on his god-killing rampage.

Four of the composition team (Gerard K. Marino, Cris Velasco, Ron Fish, and Mike Reagan) had underscored Kratos’ odyssey since the original, bringing continuity and coherence to the magnificent God of War III soundtrack.

The score is dramatic, dynamic, and above all operatic, matching the outsized story of the game. Orchestral arrangements are big and bold, with the Skywalker Session Orchestra’s brass section blowing up a storm while frenetic string ostinatos propel cues forward. The Czech National Symphony Chorus adds both humanity and divinity, with some cues led by snarling male voices, and others by soaring sopranos.
