With her debut album, " Andersson Funeral Home" , Dottie Andersson, a Swedish songwriter from Småland, fully steps into a world of her own making - one where grief, memory and healing are treated equally. For Andersson, the funeral home becomes a metaphor for emotional processing and closure - the place where feelings are handled with care rather than suppressed. “ When someone suddenly leaves your life, it’s unnatural to just erase them, pretend they were never there” she explains. “They stay in your heart for a while. There, they’re taken care of, grieved, forgiven, hated, loved. The heart becomes a kind of funeral home. Eventually, when time finally allows, the feeling is buried - not bitterly, but gratefully. Only in this way, there is a possibility to move on.” Set for release on September 4 via Royal Mountain Records, the songs on " Andersson Funeral Home" are confident in both their darkness and clarity. It was written, produced, recorded and mixed by Andersson and British producer and multi-instrumentalist Ben Jackson-Cook, handmade with no samples used. The duo have an instinct for contrast: sharp melodic sensibility collides with raw textures, rhythms and atypical production choices across 13 tracks of sensitive but exciting indie-pop. Throughout the album, Andersson’s background as a drummer becomes increasingly apparent - not through technical excess, but through the arrangements and drum sounds themselves.
