In celebration of the great artist’s 80th birthday, Deutsche Grammophon will release Daniel Barenboim’s “immensely characterful and finely reproduced recording” (Gramophone in 1974) of Mendelssohn’s complete Songs without Words and other solo piano works in this special 3-LP vinyl edition. Barenboim still “sweeps the board in this repertoire”, declared The Penguin Guide to Recorded Classical Music in 2011.
