The Twilight Sad

It's The Long Goodbye

Beloved Scottish band The Twilight Sad make their long-awaited return with It's The Long Goodbye.

It's The Long Goodbye is the sixth album by The Twilight Sad, arriving after a seven-year gap since 2019’s It Won’t Be Like This All the Time.

Musically, the record keeps the band’s signature post-punk / shoegaze-leaning atmosphere but tightens it into something more focused. It’s The Long Goodbye is less about big hooks and more about emotional documentation.

The album also features contributions from Robert Smith of The Cure, a long-time supporter of the band who joined them on tour and added guitar and bass to several tracks.

Across its ten songs—opening with “Get Away From It All” and closing with the starkly titled “TV People Still Throwing TVs At People”—It’s The Long Goodbye feels less like a conventional album and more like a diary written across seven turbulent years. Each track marks a different stage of processing loss: disbelief, anger, exhaustion, and eventually something resembling acceptance.

What makes the record powerful is its universality. As Graham himself has said, everyone eventually faces this kind of loss in their own way. The album doesn’t attempt to resolve grief—it simply gives it a voice.

We are very excited for the release of our very own Assai Exclusive Obi Edition of the record  - which is signed by James and Andy - available to pre-order here on limited red colour vinyl ... instore from 27th March (while stocks last).

As well as the obi edition we will be joined by James and Andy to our Edinburgh store on Wednesday 1st April, for an intimate performance and signing, you don't want to miss. After quickly selling out the early show we have added a late show - tickets available here - we'll see you there.
