At the same\u003cbr\u003e\ntime, he set up his own Hit Sound label, where he recorded soulful\u003cbr\u003e\nroots recordings that built on a young man’s deep love of reggae’s\u003cbr\u003e\nat-the-time short history, while also moving into the emerging\u003cbr\u003e\nsounds of dancehall.\u003cbr\u003e\nDavid Hill from Soul Revivers has put together this fantastic\u003cbr\u003e\ncompilation, showcasing the very best of U Brown’s production\u003cbr\u003e\noutput, which appeared on a number of labels, including Hit Sound\u003cbr\u003e\nand Tanker. This is the first compilation of Browns work to appear\u003cbr\u003e\non vinyl and includes previously-unknown dubplate mixes of cuts by\u003cbr\u003e\nAl Campbell, including his classic ‘Give The People’.\u003cbr\u003e\nThe album also features under-recorded vocalist Vincent Taylor, the\u003cbr\u003e\nlegendary vocalist Delroy Wilson, with two rare 12-inch cuts, the\u003cbr\u003e\nlilting instrumental sound of Bobby Ellis \u0026amp; Deadly Headly, and the\u003cbr\u003e\ndancehall classic by Carlton Livingstone ‘Hey Mr DJ’.\u003cbr\u003e\nThis is the sound of a young producer hustling to get heard in the\u003cbr\u003e\nover-crowded Jamaican record scene.
